The Ministry of Industry and Tourism, through the Technical Office of the General Secretariat for Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, is responsible for compiling cement statistics.
The aim of these statistics is to provide accurate, reliable information as quickly as possible on developments in the Spanish cement sector, so as to meet the information needs of all economic and social agents who require it.
Statistics on the main figures for the Spanish cement sector are widely used as an indicator of the evolution of the sector itself, as well as of the construction sector in Spain, the latter being a basic sector of the Spanish economy.
The use of statistics from the cement sector as a macroeconomic indicator is widely used by different economic and social agents, including national and regional public administrations, which require this information in order to closely monitor the evolution of the production and consumption of this product as important and representative data on the economic situation of the country and its different regions.
The calendar defined for the publication of the statistics establishes that the results for the previous month will be published no later than the 20th of each month. The calendar for the publication of the statistics is shown below:
The files linked below include the results of the cement statistics for recent months.
NFORMATIVE NOTE:
Starting in May 2024 (data corresponding to April 2024), the Cement Statistics incorporate certain methodological changes associated with the expansion of the reporting unit base. Therefore, from that month until December 2025 inclusive, two versions of the Statistics will be published in order to facilitate year-on-year comparability and throughout the calendar year 2025: one version in accordance with the old methodology (non-expanded reporting unit base) and another in accordance with the new methodology (expanded reporting unit base). The corresponding files are named with the identifiers ‘BASE NOT EXPANDED’ and ‘BASE EXPANDED’, respectively.
The files linked below include the results of the historical series of cement statistics since 1992.
The methodology used to compile cement statistics can be downloaded from the following links:
